Opinions are different here, I have also read articles from knowledgeable 
people where it is said closing apps all the time ends up using more battery 
because if these apps stay in the a switcher it takes less power to reopen them 
and as long as a developer designes their app properly, iOS is extremely good 
at managing these aps when they are not used/inactive.

That has been my experience as well.  I used to forget to close apps. But I 
found out too that, though it's probably a small amount, leaving apps open 
unnecessarily uses additional battery power.  That can make a difference at 
least for me because my iPhones, both SE models, don't hold a charge as long as 
they should and I notice that it's worse if I the more apps I have open that 
I'm not using.
