That has been my experience as well.  I used to forget to close apps.  But I found out too that, though it's probably a small amount, leaving apps open unnecessarily uses additional battery power.  That can make a difference at least for me because my iPhones, both SE models, don't hold a charge as long as they should and I notice that it's worse if I the more apps I have open that I'm not using.

Invariably, after a time, the phone started behaving oddly, things not working
right, etc.
Once I closed everything out of the app switcher it returned to normal.
I know Apple says it is not necessary to take apps out of the app switcher, but
my experience says the opposite.
I do think that like any computer, there comes a time when the resources get
maxed out and you have to close everything and often reboot to get it back to
normal.

So, feel free to not close apps out of the app switcher, but if the pone starts
acting up, clear them out and see what happens.

What do you mean by don't close out programs that are suspended?

By any chance, are you reccomending that Apps should not be removed from the
App manager?

Thank you,

To: [email protected] I do make an exception fro applications from Meta,
I don’t trust them.
Also, of course if an application is in a hung state removing it from the
application switcher will resolve that issue.
But there are numerous articles that say closing apps from the app switcher
means that the app has to do more work when it is next launched.

Subject: Re: iPhone charging question

In newer iPhones you can go into the Battery settings area and select an option
to only charge to 80%, this is supposed to be the best for charging life, and
then you won’t have to think about unplugging beffore the battery gets to 100%.
There was a recent article on Daring Fireball about how effective this approach
is.
Your best bet for performance is to reduce your battery usage. Set the
brightness to 5%, and don’t close out programs that are suspended.

What is the best way to charge an iphone in order to prolong battery life? Is
it better to always charge to 100 percent, or is it better to only let it go to
just under 100 percent?
