The problem is one doesn't know what one doesn't know until someone points out
to one that one dosen't know it, and then provides the help. I appreciate your
help.

I know I was never trained beyond the basics of JAWS, and further self-study is
a balance between further self-study and trying to get down to the brass tacks
of doing what needs to be done in life with the skills one already has...and it
seems there's already never enough time to get the latter done as it is.

Best, Keith

Hi Keith,

I wasn't suggesting to try Insert+3 in Raul's case for redeeming a gift card,
it was merely an example I used to explain how often not knowing about certain
screen reader features can be the cause for not getting the desired results.

I never used the Help section of iTunes, but I'll take a look and let you know
what I find shortly.

Regards,
Sieghard

Sieghard,

Are you suggesting Raul try the "insert + 3" key combination in JAWS?

You're correct in that I have not heard of this before (but I appreciate
learning of it now), and, perhaps, I missed Jonathan Mosen's discussion of it
in his FS Casts. Do you remember about where he discusses this in any of his 4
podcast on JAWS and iTunes. I'm most eager to hone in on this as I'm sure it
will be most helpful to me to go back and study this section in depth.

I appreciate the help.

Best, Keith

Hi Arianna and Keith,

I can't speak for Window Eyes, but I don't think there is much that one can't
do with Jaws in iTunes. Take the example of not being able to sync selected
audio books, for example, if I am not mistaken that affected Windo-Eyes and
NVDA users just the same and as of yesterday's iTunes update that is fixed. I
mean no disrespect to anybody, but I think in more situations the problem is
that people have not yet learned to navigate effectively whether it is in
iTunes or on the internet with whichever browser one uses.

One example, somebody quite a while back mentioned that it is not possible to
copy the serial number of your iPhone in iTunes using Jaws. So, I went into
iTunes, placed Jaws into the field where the serial number is displayed and
pressed Control+C. Jaws said "Nothing Selected" and when I then went into
Notepad and did a Control+V to paste it nothing happened. So, I went back and
did a Control+A (select all) first, then a Control+C, once again Jaws said
"Nothing selected" and nothing was pasted into Notepad. Then I went back again,
did an "Insert+3" for the "Pass Key Through" command. I then did a Control+C
and bingo, the serial number was copied to the clipboard just fine and I was
able to paste it. The pass key through command has been in Jaws for so long
that I don't even remember, probably since day
1 and it's a basic keystroke that is often useful, yet I think a lot of people
don't know about it or forget that it can come in handy.

Sieghard

That's the thing I don't really understand. Why do companies make their
products accessible to one screen reader only? How does that work, anyway?
If you make something accessible, shouldn't it follow that it's accessible
using any screen reader? Are't accessible programs accessible in universal
methods?

Thanks,
Ari
