My results when scanning a box of cake mix using Kurzweil was less than satisfactory. I got weird symbols for most of the numbers, rendering the cooking directions useless. So, scanning a box may be helpful in some instances, but I wasn't satisfied with the results I got. I even flattened the box out after removing the package of mix to see if that would improve things, and it didn't really help any.
I'm glad to know about the UPC code database. I'll probably be adding a shortcut for that to my home screen.
