Lorry, Why not just use iTunes to update. you should be fine. It sounds to me like your iPhone is not connected to your wife. In this case, just select your network and you will be prompted for your password if it is not entered already and then after entering your password, double tap ok and your phone will connect if the code is entered correctly. If you want, you can look on the status bar on the top of the screen and it will show you what you are connected to and what your stranth is. HTH.
