Changing it to "OO" worked. I read through the documentation for that parameter on the IODEVICE macro. It sound as if "0F" might have worked also.

The DFSMS RMS communicates over the channel connection with the library. I wonder, if the CUADD=F0 is correct, because normally it starts with CUADD=00. Here is an example of 3590 IOCDS. CHPID PATH=(04),SHARED, * PARTITION=((SAPPROD,SAPTEST),(SAPPROD,SAPTEST)), * TYPE=CNC CNTLUNIT CUNUMBR=0400,PATH=(04),UNITADD=((00,016)),UNIT=3590 IODEVICE ADDRESS=(400,004),CUNUMBR=(0400),STADET=Y,UNIT=3590 The only thing you can reach with correct IOCDS is getting the devices online and being able to attach the drives to a userid. Mounting tapes from VM prerequisites a correctly defined DFSMS RMS. Hope this helps Franz Josef Pohlen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dusha, Cecelia, Ms., WHS/ITMD" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 18, 2005 12:59 PM Subject: [VMESA-L] IBM 3494 Tape Library > Hello, > > I am having difficulty getting my z/VM 5.1 system to recognize an IBM > 3494 Tape Library. > > Initially the addresses within the tape library were defined as 200, > 201.
