I am really tired of the assertion that Al Gore invented the notion of anthropogenic global warming. Do you -- any of you who seem to believe that -- ever read anything which originates outside the United States? Or any actual papers, or scientific journals? Do you *just* read newspapers and watch television? I can't think of any other way you could have come to the conclusion that Gore is the prime mover behind the notion that humans have something to do with warming up the planet. Al Gore is an American politician. He has influence with American left-wingers. But he doesn't carry a lot of weight with the scientific establishment in England, Europe, or even Canada. In fact, Gore doesn't even carry a lot of weight among the right-wing government-funded national lab group -- you know, the folks who work on developing new bombs and stuff like that. It's a bit old at this point and has been relegated to the back pages. This report came out on 11 September 2006, at the height of the Bush presidency. I don't think the liberal establishment had a lot to do with it. Please note that Al Gore is not employed at LLNL.
