Rob,
  If that is the book that I have read it was written in something like 1910
or 1920 which adds a lot of character to the book.  I remember a story about
hwy 101 over at hoodsport that said something like if you sneezed you went
down the cliff to the water that was how narrow the road was or something
like that.
