Hi Tim and everyone.

The OS upgrade today did one thing n- it revealed the source of the "hidden"
message. Turns out to be the SMS call out mobile number that DFES CommCen use.
( So, critically - that's the most important thing solved, and if in doubt
somebody will ring me)

Unfortunately the OS upgrade did not restore my SMS Saturday test messaging -
that comes ex "somewhere else - maybe Indonesia?" via a Perth call centre.

I have SMS MMS on. Done the airplane on/off. There is 1.4GB of space on the
phone and I usually delete email and SMS immediately. I checked Telstra and
blocked callers ( I changed from a Samsung last year) - they say I have none.

I can go into a bit more detail about this off line, but I am now thinking -
this is not an iPhone issue. Other members of my team have iPhones and they
have no issues.

Trouble is I can only test the service once a week!

Thanks for all the advice.

Bill
