     Well, mine is more of a debit card, part of a cash management account
deal. It is a fast way to transfer money anywhere across the country, and
one that enforces an arbitration scheme biased in your favor if the item
purchased proves faulty.  

     I once put a large deposit on a car that way, only to find the car
had been made from the front end or one car, and the rear end of another,
and the welds done badly. The outfit refused to refund my money, but the
bank took care of it for me...  It use to be widely recommended that one
buy computers that way, when they, and their dealers, were less reliable.
