I have purchased from lots of little sites and have yet to be dissapointed.
As for Amazon, the one time I went there looking for a specific
book for a product called Samba (it allows you to view UNIX -
linux, freebsd, etc boxes from your Neighborhood Network) they
didn't have it. I wound up at a little site and they had it and
I got it in 3 days.
I would think it is the "specialty" type places (ie. for
hobbies, pets, etc) that are doing well on the web (low overhead
- no advertising).
