Two bookstores that are *not* making money on the Net:

One bookstore owner here in Ashland has been talking to me about his web
site for nearly a year. At first he wanted me to do it, but then found out
that I actually charge money for my time (amazing concept). He decided to
do it himself, and last I heard, he had registered a domain name and has a
placeholder page online. Not bad progress for a year.

The other Ashland bookstore owner spoke at the City Council hearing against
the Ashland Fiber Network. His position was that the City should not get in
the business of providing internet service, because it would encourage
unfair competition from certain online bookstores against local bookstores
like his. His speech reminded me of an ostrich with his head buried in the
sand hoping that if he ignores the internet it'll go away.
