Actually, I like it quite a bit...not as much as I like the idea
of sticking Bill Gates' head on a post at the outskirts of the
village as a warning to others, but I do like it.
If it happened tomorrow, I can't for the life of me imagine any
negative consequences to anyone but them...and they richly deserve it.
There is no technical problem solved by their products which cannot
be better solved by someone elses' (especially since their solutions
are usually third-rate knockoffs of better ones, e.g. Netscape vs. IE,
Unix vs. NT, MacOS vs. Windows). There is no market that wouldn't
be better off without their chilling influence; there is no lack
of better places for the few technically talented people they have to work;
and there is no segment of the industry that would miss their stifling
marketing tactics.
