aready have 5.0 up and running. Installed, blew away NT and got X windows
configured in less than a day with only one request for assistance to the
list (very rapidly answered by javilk, rich and others). Really had very
little difficulty at all.

Spent the time since then (apart from going on holiday <g>) learning about
unix file systems, vi, etc. Now I actually want to start using the box to
do some productive work, hence my question about applications. Because, at
the end of the day, if the applications aren't there, what good is having a
stable, powerful, multi-everything OS? (Other than as a web server, of
course).
