I've used ACT for 6 or 7 years and yes it does that plus some.
The big problem I found with it is you get addicted. I was first
introduced to ACT when I was National Market Manager at MAI
Systems. One of my sales managers said one of her salesmen was
using it and we should review it. I did, then had her fire the
sales person. He spent hours internally managing his contact database.
If it is used by marketing folks, it's great. If it's used as a
tickler for sales folks, it's great. Otherwise, give the sales
people as small a desk as possible, in a large crowded room, with
no heat or air conditioning, which will force them out in the
field where they belong.
