They got DOS to work, didn't they? All Unix is, is a superior DOS.
You can run X Windows too, and get some of the benefits of Windows.

a few years. Or is it a few months?
Yes, you are right, Unix/Linux can be immensely complex, confusing,
and just a pain in the rear end! But... it does give you the power of
Getting Things Done that you never had before! If you are trying to build
The Next Great Thing, Unix/Linux is the way to go. After using Linux
three months, I turned off several other DOS and Windows machines that I
no longer needed. Believe me, it is well worth the effort learning! It
sets your mind free!
