Agree with Terri -- I believe your executives will NOT be coding pages -- so their
idea of "construction" is probably more like "publishing" and less like "running
printing presses".
Part 1 is imperative -- but the hard part for execs to grasp is
a) the end user has ultimate control -- over appearance [software/hardware differences
plus personal preferences] and over how long they stay
b) the end user does NOT like hype -- traditional marketing messages fall flat in this
medium
c) if you can figure out what your end users will be doing when they come to your web
site, you can meet their goals and your communications/marketing/image goals at the
same time.
Also -- just as they wouldn't let their printer determine the cover of their annua
report -- or write all the copy -- they shouldn't let the nuts-and-bolts folks run the
web site without working with communications.
