There is also IRC proxies which logs the channel while you are not logged in and sends you the log next time you show up. Personally, I use Bip http://bip.t1r.net/ to make sure I don't miss a thing on #webkit-gtk! But this solution works fine only if you do show up once per day, if not the logs gets a little big (for #webkit anyway).
