An Indian schoolboy is hoping for a place in the
record books after writing 12,584 letters on a
grain of rice. Akash Gupta wrote the 26 letters
of the alphabet 484 times without visual aid and
within 90 minutes. The youngster used only a
paintbrush, Chinese ink and a clip to hold the
grain, reports the Telegraph of Calcutta. Akash,
from Calcutta, more than doubled the previous
record of 6,000 letters. Akash, who has been
involved in miniature writing for eleven years,
can also draw portraits of world leaders and
film personalities on rice and pulses.
Italian police are looking for a bank robber wearing
nothing but his underpants. He was one of two
robbers who stole �4,500 in a raid on the Regionale
Europea Bank in Valle Lomellina. While making
his getaway, he gave pursuing police officers the
slip by taking off his clothes and jumping into a
canal. His 48-year-old partner was caught as he
tried to swap his getaway car for another one of
the same model and colour.
A Serbian pensioner who faked his own funeral
while he was still alive to see who'd turn up is
now selling his grave. Vuk Peric organised his
funeral five years ago to see who would pay
their respects. He sent out the funeral invitations
himself, put a fake death notice in the paper and
then watched the service from a distance. Eventually,
he revealed himself, thanked everyone for attending
and then invited them to come to his wake. "I wanted
to see people smiling at my funeral and was
curious who would come for the last seeing off,"
he told a Serbian daily newspaper.
