Police in Sao Paulo have discovered a fake police
station in the centre of the city, only 100 metres from
a real one. Jornal da Tarde newspaper reports the
fake police station had fake policemen and detectives
who charged high fees from everyone who needed
their services. The real police started to investigate
after two men who were blackmailed in the fake
station made a complaint. After a TV station
broadcast images of bribery taking place at the
station, police investigated and arrested everybody
there. Police detained a 47-year-old lawyer, who
they believe was the head of the gang, and another
seven people.
A Michigan man is facing possible court action because
his American flag is too noisy. Ray Saelens has been
summonsed for violating a noise regulations in
Chesterfield Township, Macomb. It's believed the
summons follows a complaint from a neighbour,
who claims the flapping noise made by the 18ft by
12ft flag is keeping him awake at night. Mr Saelens
paid �2,400 to install the flag and 50ft flagpole
behind his home after the September 11 attacks.
A Norwegian man's face was covered with sewage
when he tried to wash his hands on a train. The
man, from Fredrikstad, bent over a sink to have a
wash when sewage suddenly shot up through the
plughole. The train had stopped at a station when
the man, who does not want to be named, went to
the toilet. "I put my hands under the tap and expected
pure water," he told Fredrikstad Blad. "Instead
sewage splashed up from the sink." He tried to
block the flow with his hands but his hair, face
and jumper were covered with the sewage.
