Well just like Syslog, it is optional whether you run Windows Log as a
service.  By default it is not, it just runs alongside WUG in whatever
context WUG is running (desktop or service).  If you want to run it as a
service, then do this:

        winevnt.exe -service

But make sure you then go into Control Panel and configure it to log in as
an appropriate Administrative user, otherwise it wont be able to connect to
the remote systems.

If you are not sure whether events are flowing, open the debug log (Logs |
Debug Log...) and open the properties for one of your devices and just click
OK.  (Or just close and reopen your map).  You should see messages from the
Windows events plugin that indicate any problems occurring in the collection
of events.
