Hi There,

  The API's are free as always. The software development kit is the thing
that makes them easy to use and documents the system. It's a tool that
enables rapid construction of add-on support for the WhatsUp Professional
platform.

  The SDK provides a Visual Studio C++ ATL for each of the major component
types including:

 * Active Monitors -
    Those which communicate with a device and grock status from the activity.

*  Passive Monitors -
    Those which idle until an event occurs such as a Syslog monitor.

*  Actions -
    Those that reach out and do something to some other thing.

 Each ATL provides the entire bottom end of each component and will actually
compile and execute right out of the wizard. All the developer needs to do is
hook in the libraries needed to communicate with the device their looking to
support and it's off and running.

  The SDK also provides C++ classes for Event Listening and Discovery and it
documents the database schema, the overall system architecture and
installation/deployment of the applications.

  There's a whole lot of value in the kit. Obviously you can figure all this
stuff out on your own by poking around in the system long enough, it's open.
The SDK just makes it easier and faster to construct effective modules so you
can spend more time writing code and less time groveling through tables and
COM interfaces.

  Oh, for all you guys who write software for a living, you can distribute the
stuff you build with the SDK royalty free. There's no runtime licensing.

Cheers!

But that does include the monitor/alert plugin API that is currently free with
WUG? Is the range of included monitors greatly extended, or more flexible than
just send/expect at least?
