I use WUP on an XP machine. Using MSDE for the moment. Once I tweaked the program so that my SNMP log file wasn't huge and that gathering statistics was unchecked the program runs very well. I have over 4000 nodes that I monitor. If you are using MSDE the first thing to check is the size of the MDB file. If it is over 1.5 gig there might be some polling going on that you may be unaware of. I use both the console and web interface.

Was it a misstake? Actually you will see significant slowdowns with XP-SP2. This is not a problem with WUP. The slowdown is because of changes to the TCP stack made by Microsoft.
