Hi Fabiana (*et al*)

At one level storage is cheap in that "abandoned" pages, or pages with no
content don't consume storage or bandwidth ;-). One of WikiEducator's
features is that we provide free training in a live Wiki community -- the
downside is many abandoned practice pages that should ideally be deleted in
the wiki.

As a community we need to get better with our wiki gardening and maintenance
of our collective work. A few thoughts:

   - I agree -- I don't think the {{WIP}} template is a good solution.
Clearly there are many pages which are practice pages, or pages which are
unlikely to be developed over time.
   - We need to provide training and support for community members -- for
some time I've been thinking about a community-support training course,
using the Learning4Content model to help members acquire the knowledge and
skills for these kind of community admin tasks. When can pages be deleted,
how page deletions are requested, community service projects etc. I would
imaging there are many Wikieducators who aren't clear about what to do.
   - From a strategic perspective -- as mainstream adoption of OER within
formal education institutions starts increasing, we need to think creatively
about ways in which we can co-ordinate and help formal education
institutions participate while deriving immediate benefits from their
participation. Can you imagine the impact of OER around the world if every
institution were to donate 1 full-time equivalent staff member to OER
   support and development.

Good thoughts and we should definitely add these to our WE new year
resolutions :-)

Wayne
