Is it possible to burn a DVD in a format that will hold 6 or 7
hrs of video and plays on a standard DVD player? I know the
stand alone DVD recorders have a long play mode, but I didn't
see anything in Nero Vision Express 2 that allows it.
My stand alone Samsung can burn up to 8hrs in the low quality mode
which I have yet to try but in the High quality mode it burns an hour
show without any problems & it's pretty decent but boo hoo it's not HD. ;-)
Nero Vision Express can burn most any length that you like but it has
some presets as well. If you go to http://www.videohelp.com/ it'll
explain all the various modes such as CVD, SVCD, VCD, SVCD-DVD etc.
etc. but unfortunately not all stand alone players support all
modes. My Philips DVP-642 is suppose to play just about anything but
they claim to only supt DIVX & Xvid when burned to a CD but some have
reported to be able to do DIVX & Xvid on a DVD which would give many
hours of video. Another source of info is http://www.avsforum.com/
Nero Vision Express presets are Auto, High, Standard, Long, Extended,
Super Long & Custom with the custom letting you set the bitrate at
which you want to use so one could use CVD settings [see
videohelp.com] to burn their DVD with & come out with a pretty decent video.
