Chuck, just how far back should we "hold onto Windows OEM?" Back to Win 3.3
or even earlier?
I've got apps on 5ΒΌ" floppies. Does that
count? Hey, does anyone want my Win 3.1 diskettes? <just kidding>
In my experience, even the much maligned Win Me was worth the money
for the upgrade.
Even I can't go quite that far. <LOL> To each
their own but IMNSHO they could've & should've kept ME & BOB.
Further, many folks (NOT including me!) frequently blow $90 on dinner and
a movie for the family, assuming the family isn't TOO big.
Yikes, leave the kids at home. <rotflmao>
You may as well accept that while there is definitely a small (but
shrinking) market for custom built computers, there IS an economy of scale,
and the mass producers can crank them out a LOT cheaper than you can. As to
Microsoft giving a break to a company which licenses millions of OS's per
year over those which may buy/license <100, Welcome to the Real World!
What gets me is this is the same guy that sells
them a new copy of winders when he rebuilds a
name brand box because it's easier than cleaning
up the standard installation that company XYZ
uses? Can't have it both ways but now we're
suppose to hold onto our OEM CDs. Gee, I can't as
the guy that rebuilt it stated I had to have his
version of windows. I don't know what's so hard
about running msconfig & turning stuff off or
uninstalling some of the cacaware via the control
panel's add or remove programs.
As has been said, "Adapt or die (i.e., go out of business)."
With certain peeps I'm afraid it'll be the latter
but from the real world as opposed to just the
business world. As a scientific experiment I
wonder how much more would be accomplished if
there was less complaining & more research on deploying & tweaking.
JMNSHO, of course...
Of course & ditto that here as well.
