so the cost of a new cpu should include the cost of a new OS? Not here,
I'd never play by those rules
I play by Microsoft rules. I authenticate. If you authenticate and pass the
2nd round, the Validation Procedure, you should be playing by Microsoft's
rules, also.
Hugh said, "You forgot something Wayne. According to Chuck you cannot
simply plug in another CPU as you will
have to then wait at least an hour to install a brand new $90 copy of
Windows to test it as you must
NOT use your old copy on another CPU."
No, you can run a fresh install of Windows XP for testing purposes all you
want, without authenticating. You just have to reinstall every 30 days.
Hugh again said, "Can you tell us (me) why you are so paranoid about
customers O/S and whether they are legal or not?"
I simply want to do all the updates and clear the 2nd tier, the Validation
Procedure before I let the customer pick up their computer. I can accomplish
neither if Microsoft does not consider my installation legal to authenticate
and authorizes same.
Don't apply the same questions to Windows 98 or Me etc. I will take the 5th
amendment on those questions! You will find out real quick that I do not
cheat myself out of work when I can get past the radar. Hey, folks! I am
human also and want to make a tad of money. I have no sympathy for the
richest man in the world!
Chuck
