This is always worth checking. We've all seen (or heard of)
the problems with attaching an ATA/100 or ATA/133 drive
with an old 40-wire IDE cable, but I've also seen the ATA/133
drives be finnicky about the quality of the 80-wire cables,
as well.

On my particular board, or one of its failing predecessors
I tried various permutations of cpu, memory, PSU, and disk
drive technology (PATA and SATA). I saw failures in all
cases, especially on the first board sent to me. I've
come to the conclusion there's a design or manufacturing
flaw in this series of boards, but that's difficult to
prove.

Side note: SATA drives uses a protocol that includes
error correction, so technically they should detect
(or correct) a cable problem. BTW, on my first board
I saw data corruption on the SATA drive, and given that I
had some confidence in the cpu and memory and the drive
itself (all had been working on an Epox board) I came to
conclusion there's somnething wrong in the PCI implementation.
Cross-talk or something like that on the A7N8X-E.
