Bingo!!!! If you used WEP of any variety, just remember this WEP is Dead,

While it's true that WEP is crackable, it certainly beats a blank, as
other's have said. So, if WPA isn't available, use the WEP and
change the password often. Also, I'd recommend changing the default
password for the router/access-point if it hasn't already been
done. The white-listing of the MAC may give you some peace of mind,
but I believe the MAC is sent un-encrypted, so it could be easily spoofed.
Since someone was already using the connection, and now knows the
name of the access-point, I would change that as well. Then, after
making sure your machines are setup for the new name, disable
transmission of the SSID.
While none of that will keep out a determined hacker, it will keep
out most people. I've had an access-point that only supports WEP for
a little over two years and have never seen any unauthorized access
in the logs. But, I live in a low density neighborhood with widely
spaced homes, so most of my neighbors are out of range anyway.
It was only recently that my laptop began to detect another network;
a neighbor had installed an access-point and was using it right out
of the box. But, even though his house is only about 50 yds away, I
couldn't get a strong enough signal to connect to it. Then I
informed him his network wasn't secured.
