Highway robbery if you buy it from Dell. Had a client in the same position.
With some of the older Dimensions, the cpu fan is not attached the cpu, there
is a shroud covering the heatsink on the cpu which goes to a fan at the back
of the case. Dell charged the client $200 for the fan and the plastic housing
that clips into the case. It was just a large standard dc fan that you
should be able to get in any decent electronics shop for like $20 or $30 max.
You use the old housing and you are golden.

If your machine is of the same type, open the machine, look at the fan
housing and you'll see 4 plastic clips you can squeeze to release the unit.
Take it to an electronics store and get a replacement that way.
