Greetings...
Today I turned on my WinXP SP2 system with a internal dial-up modem. I did my
usual dialing into my ISP. The opening screen shows username verification and
a connection. This connection has been verfied by my ISP Tech Support (who is
also a friend).
Unfortunately I can't download email nor can I surf with a browser. I can't
ping nor telnet. The TCP/IP has been reset.
My friend can only suggest that if modem can connect but can't send packets,
then there might be something wrong with the modem.
I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do to check the status of the
modem? WinXP reports it is working properly.
The phone line is ok - I'm on another computer with an external modem on the
same telephone line. Before I try disabling the internal modem and using an
external modem is there anything else I can try to reset/fix/enable the
internal modem? Many thanks for any suggestions....
