Linux and almost all of its apps have been easy to use since they added the gui
a few years ago.
All of the flavors of Linux, OpenLinux, Suse, Mandrake, Redhat
ect have gui's and are just as easy to use as Windows.
Just like driving a car you need a steering wheel, breaks, accelorator,
speedometer and gearshift
to interact with the car just as you need windows, scrollbars, menus' menu
buttons to
intereact with Linux and other programs.

I'd have thought anything, be it cosmetic or otherwise, that makes an
app or OS easier to use can only help it gain popularity ? I dipped into
linux and got totally fed up using command-line, even for such simple
tasks as installing codecs, a computer newcomer would have been lost in
seconds.
