I guess great minds think alike. I just ordered the same processor (AMD64 X2 4800-now getting increasingly hard to find); upgrading from an AMD64 3200. Looking for a bit extra under the hood.
Got a bit of extra money so naturally blew it on computer parts... I just upgraded mine from an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ which I believe is the fastest a socket 939 mombo will go. I'm running an ATI X800 w/ 256 meg video & SATA Raid 0 with dual 74g Raptors. If this won't run the Ultimate edition I don't know what will but IIRC you're running something similar. I know my upgrading CPUs after 2yrs was at least as big an improvement as many would experience when going from 256 to 512 meg of ram or a larger faster video card. I'll have to renew my MAPS subscription after the 1st of the year because I hate to upgrade my OS for something that is just different. Is there a comparison of what Vista will do on a hardware setup as compared to XP ? I know when XP came out MSFT bragged all over the place with their Go Pro Kit & elsewhere about how much faster different processes were when running XP. -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
