First, more than a few people have complained about various parts of
Linux development. But that's not the point any more than Microsoft
telling you and me that they made changes because "these changes had
to be done." The point was that Netraverse has nothing to do with it
and thus the notion that they're somehow plotting to generate more
revenue by making people upgrade is silly.

Nope...I'm saying it's NOBODY'S fault. You can view the world as
though everything that doesn't go your way is a plot by bad guys or
you can view the world as though some things just happen. The timing
of Linux development and other applications is never going to be
synchronized such that nobody will buy a version of one product that
isn't obsoleted by the marketplace 'too soon.' It's simply bound to
happen sometimes.

I want people to realize that the software world is going...period.
Because its going, some incompatibilities are going to crop up. If
that's a 'lack of direction' then so be it.

I'm not blaming anyone. Then again, I'm not looking for someone to
blame. You seem to be searching hard. For the record, I had nothing
to do with it.
