[Winona Online Democracy] Having been involved in more than a few city planning efforts I can pass along a nugget I picked up at a conference a few years back. A woman presented a session on her specialty - redevelopment of downtowns in smaller towns - and said there are always negative naysayers and crabby pessimists in every town. Her solution? Ignore them. Surround yourself only with those people who have a positive attitude and optimistic viewpoint. Negative people can always find a reason things can't be done. Positive people will always find a they can be done.
