all i'm saying is there are immature people all over that laugh when they see the names of sex organs. i feel bad for the teacher that has to channel a classroom full of students who are only focusing on something they think is funny.

I agree that there will be much joking about the pin. However, an important undiscussed element with this is the related peer pressure. While the joking thus far has only been viewed as a source of external problems, this seems to more accurately highlight the negative incentives to conform.

Any student that takes a stand for anything minor is subjected to an iron curtain of pressure to not stand for anything or to withdraw and conform to the sea, rather than rising like Poseidon from the sea.

What would your comment be if Boys wore buttons that said "I Love Vaginas"?
It is still freedom of speech.

I would suggest very carefully examining what I said and to what text I was specifically responding to. I have thus said nothing about the pin, one way or another.

The only thing I observed was there is more to an educational experience than strictly learning.

Further, no male has worn a pin stating anything of the sort, that I am aware of, therefore, I see it as pointless to comment on this because there are countless ways that such events could unfold and attempting to comment on the countless scenarios that would unfold under such circumstances is futile.

You're at school to learn, not to wear a button that says vagina so
you can prove some point that no one cares about because they're too
busy laughing at the fact that someone is wearing a button that says
vagina. I don't gamble, but I'd bet that only a small handful of kids
actually care about the statement Rethlefson is trying to make.

If it were only that simple...

Are you trying to tell me that all you did in high school was "learn?"
I doubt that, so why the oversimplification?

While the stated purpose of a school system may be to educate students,
there are also many unintended and unacknowledged "events" that form
the educational experience. I find it unlikely, even if the prison time
were a penalty for leaving school, that anyone would stay in high
school, if the only thing that you where there to do would be to learn.
