What would your comment be if Boys wore buttons that said "I Love Vaginas"? It is still freedom of speech. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of David Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 6:01 PM To: Winona Online Democracy Subject: Re: [Winona] Re: students' freedom of speech [Winona Online Democracy] On Apr 22, 2005, at 16:50, Adam Crowson wrote: [snip] > You're at school to learn, not to wear a button that says vagina so > you can prove some point that no one cares about because they're too > busy laughing at the fact that someone is wearing a button that says > vagina. Are you trying to tell me that all you did in high school was "learn?" I doubt that, so why the oversimplification? While the stated purpose of a school system may be to educate students, there are also many unintended and unacknowledged "events" that form the educational experience. I find it unlikely, even if the prison time were a penalty for leaving school, that anyone would stay in high school, if the only thing that you where there to do would be to learn.
