I figure this: my average run is around 30-150 feet. Ethernet is good for 300+/- feet @ 100/1000bt . I figure that if I mess up the twisted pair just a little bit in that 100 foot long cable I won't see a huge impact in my 4mb-10mb service and if I do, then I bet wrong and I am out time and some minor materials. All of the cable I pull is outdoor gel filled cable so everything is pretty aqua-phobic once I put electrical tape over the splice.
