Helpful to whom, Uwe? When I'm hoping for 77 bit QSOs, I don't see much purpose in coding and sending or receiving and decoding 75 bit messages.
Besides which, it would be tricky for me to run both WSJTX and JTDX at the same time since they both want to grab the sound card and radio, and exchange UDP messages with Logger32. For now, I'm going with plan A: when 15, 17 or 20m are reasonably active around lunchtime this end (23z), I'll spend an hour or so on FT8+ 77-bits only, testing and learning how to drive WSJT-X v2 RC5 and hopefully giving others the chance too. 73 Gary ZL2iFB -----Original Message----- From: DG2YCB, Uwe <dg2...@gmx.de> Sent: 30 November 2018 07:05 To: 'WSJT software development' <wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net> Subject: Re: [wsjt-devel] "NO RCV 75 BIT" Gary, One possibility to check what they might have answered is running two instances of WSJT-X in parallel, one v2.0.0 and one v1.9.1. I am doing that and saw that a number of others seems to do it as well. Can be helpful, as there are currently lots of 75 bit messages above 2 KHz as well as 77 bit messages below 2 KHz. For example a couple of minutes ago I saw a station from Spain calling CQ on 30m using 77 bit, and 30 seconds later he continued using 75 bit messages (because nobody answered him). 73 de Uwe, DG2YCB -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Gary Hinson [mailto:g...@isect.com] Gesendet: Donnerstag, 29. I'm aiming my messages at the users of previous RCs who can copy my 77 bit messages but are routinely transmitting 75 bit messages ... because that's where ~95% of the action is right now. All I see from them is undecodable blobs on the waterfall but hopefully they can at least see my messages. You're right though: I'm not sure my messages are being read! With maybe half of the stations that appear simplex on 'my' frequency initially as blobs, I see them take a break then come back with 77-bit FT8+ and we have a 2-way pure 77 bit QSO. The others blob at me for a few cycles then disappear, presumably convinced that I am deaf-as (as we Kiwi's say). Deafness and blindness, those are the issues we're facing on a daily basis! Hopefully things will improve rapidly once the prior RCs expire and more people hit RC5. If enough of us are there to work, the rest will gradually follow. If not ... 73 Gary ZL2iFB -----Original Message----- From: Wolfgang <oe1...@gmail.com> Sent: 29 November 2018 20:39 To: WSJT software development <wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net> Subject: Re: [wsjt-devel] "NO RCV 75 BIT" Hello Gary, I saw this in a QSO too. ??? It is like you are holding a printed sign in front of a blind person and waiting for an reaction. If you TX those texts in 77bit, only the ones with 77bits can read it and "NO RCV 75 BIT" is like talking to yourself. For the ones using RC4 or RC5 in 77bit mode, the messages are useless cycles and all 1.9.1 user will never ever see it, because 1.9.1 can not decode your 77bit messages. 73's de OE1MWW Wolfgang Thursday, November 29, 2018, 5:57:08 AM, you wrote: > I have composed and compiled a motley collection of free text messages > to send in sequence or sporadically between CQs e.g. > “WSJTX2 RC5 HR”, “77 BITS ONLY”, “NO RCV 75 BIT” and (in desperation) “PLS TX > 77 BITS”. > Hey, it’s only a hobby!
