Hi Mike,

there are several third-party replacements for the now unavailable IF-232C module that is needed on this and other early Kenwood rigs. Most faithfully replicate the original IF-232C, some may not. The manual is almost certainly correct, the reporter, if he is correct, almost certainly has a non-standard IF-232C replacement.

Old thread noticed a difference between cable types on a 450.  Might have to do with RTS/CTS wiring differences and whether the cable supports hardware flow control.

according to the TS-450S/TS-690S CAT programming manual it is full
duplex 4800 baud 8N2 with RTS/CTS flow control using TTL signal levels.
I would be very surprised if that information was incorrect!
