I feel like I'm answering this question late, but I had such a lovely,
relaxing long weekend up in the Napa Valley of California (wine making country
and thermal hot springs for those who might not be familiar with this region)
and only today have I had a chance to pick up email for the past few days. :)
When I was a little girl (cast things back a bit!) I did embroidery and crewel
work. I HATED XS and generally refused to do it. This was because most XS at
that time was stamped, and I detested the kits. I found them boring because
they were "all the same stitch" and the simple ones Mom got for me were
generally mostly only two or three colors. So I stuck to my seed stitches, my
satin stitches, my chain stitches, etc.
Fast forward 30 years. I had dropped my needle, so to speak, because there
just wasn't time for stitching *and* going to school and working (I did both
concurrently since college). Suddenly, Prince Charming found me and we made
plans to get married. Part of the plans included me being able to leave my job
and become a housewife (except I hear that housewives clean their
houses...oops! :D). It started with a little XS kit that I saw in a store. I
thought to myself, "ugh, it's XS, but it *is* cute...perhaps I can tolerate
the XS to do the cute bear". Judge my surprise when I opened the kit and the
fabric was naked! :D So I settled down, read the instructions, and found a
fascinating new hobby that I love very, very much.
We won't go into how much $$$ I've spent over the years on my hobby. Let's
just say that it's not so much that Prince DH has ever squawked, in fact, he
helps me spend the money at shows! :D
