I took up cross stitch about 28 years ago when I was first diagnosed with Systemic
Lupus
Erythematosis. I was forced to "rest" for days on end. Books were okay, but you can
only
read for so long before you HAVE to move. TV watching is okay, but the same thing
applies. So, I took up needlework to keep me busy. Since then I've gone from very
simple
cross stitch to all forms of counted work. I love to do samplers (but had to promise DH
"no more alphabets."). I'm a member of both EGA and ANG which has broadened my
needlework
horizens considerably. As for my lupus? I still have it. I have my ups and downs. Right
now I'm on the up side after a terrible flare up 2 years ago. But I still need to rest
a
lot, so I ALWAYS have my stitching bag close at hand.
