Thanks for the update. I was just going through your reply. I'm glad it
was only the settings but at least you have the FULL version installed so
you will be less likely to see any other bugs.

Most of the time, YM works fine in the "No Proxies" mode but like the
instructions say in that section, sometimes you have to tweak them. I guess
it has to do with the Windows Firewall, as my other three computers with
either 8.1x or 9.0x running, all have the bullet in "No Proxies" but I have
Comodo Internet Security on all three. Before Comodo, I either ran Sunbelt
Kerio or Zone Alarm and they all worked on the "No Proxies" setting.

Make sure you go through all the Messenger Menu>Preferences and get it set
like you want it. Also check the Archives section since the default install
is set to not archive chat sessions and this has caused many folks to lose
their archives. I wish YM would "remember" settings from a previous version
but Yahoo!, Inc., doesn't seem to want to put this feature into YM.

Subject: Re: [Y!M] Trouble installing version 9 on an XP machine

An update.....

I changed my preferences to connect via a proxy server and then it worked.
I'm not sure why that was the case and I don't believe I had to do that on
my old machine. Oh well, it's working! I wasted enough time on it.

Thanks for the help!

Todd
