Thanks Cdes. Let me begin by reminding fellow comrades that gwede is
Secretary General not GS because there is a functionary and material
political difference between the two. for clarity purposes the ANC doesn't
have the GS because it is the President that becomes the Political head of
the ANC hence the SG is a Chief Administrative Officer. As I said
previously in a topic related to this one, our assessment to the
performance of any Leader will be based on the pursuit of Polokwane
resolutions, election manifesto and immediate NEC resolutions. As the SG
of the ANC, he is at the centre and a custodian of all ANC policies and
positions. I don't want to talk about his position in the SACP because
that is an autonomous structure. So there is no anxiety with occuppying
positions in both ANC and SACP. Hoewever the SACP will seek to influence
ANC decision to faviour the working class and the poor, hence the ANC is a
disciplene force of the left.

The reality is that the songs and statement issued during the ANCYL
lekgotla cannot be left unattended. I only have a problem with the
precedent we are setting for ourselves as a youth within the ANC. Yes, we
do have a loud voice, and at most case it prevails. I don't want to focus
on a desire to prove our hegemony and momentum against those who don't own
our views. But i think the upcoming NGC shall assess critical positions
such as nationalisation of mine/reserve banks, free education, national
health insurance, implementation of our 5 priorities; we must not even
attemp to reducing this important NGC in the build up for 2012 leadership
contest in checking the balance of forces. And the issue of calculating
those who speak in line or not in line with our perspectives, by the way
where is freedom of expression and culture of free debates? We need to be
objective comrades. Let us go back to a service delivery culture, people
need water, houses, roads, electricity, fight against crime, and so forth.
Together we can do more but divided we will definately do less if not
nothing at all.
