I once had a lot time spent with Cde floyd and Philemon Lukhele when Cde floyd was the President of Wits SRC deployed by SASCO. We spent time in debating both Political and Social challenges confronting our society. We had discussions and social networks with different people and characters in his room that i used when i visited wits and 7th Street in Melville Johannesburg. When i was Secretary General of SASCO the two Comrades were vehemently opposed to the views of the collective i lead but tolerated my company. Floyd then had fundamental strong opinion about the road to Socialism and opposed a narrow nationalism articulation and that emphasized the national question over the class question. He was an energetic Marxism and a proponent of the working class hegemony in Society. He challenged us to open up debates in the organization and not to oppress opposing views ,he was our opposing opponent he wrote about us in Discussion Forums and we remained friends. He contested our views on the National Democratic Revolution. He lead a debate for SASCO to be a Socialist student Movement he was defeated but he was persistent ,he challenged the two stage theory.Cde floyd in his student days was a debater and a writer that was tolerant of different views. When i was told that he then elected to the leadership of the ANCYL , I went back to memory lane and said truly our efforts to balance his theory and his understanding of the co relationship between the national struggle and the class struggle was a success. Today he understand this dichotomy. However im every disappointed with his recent low level harassment of Jouranilist as desperation to defend his organization, this is not the floyd that challenged us when he felt he was harassed by the then leadership of Gauteng , this not then floyd that hated capitalism,this not the floyd that defined us as the 1996 class project. What went wrong to floyd and the Lukhele i know , when the revolutionary theory was substituted with slurs in build up to Polokwane it compromised theory of the revolutionary movement from revolutionary theory to patronage and personality cult.Today the Politics of the Revolutionary movement are no longer about how the capacity of Cadres but the slurs we put in Public and insults. I know many we will respond with the utter slurs to this comment but any revolutionary movement that lose its tradition and culture it is doomed to follow all lost revolutions. This revolution is a stolen revolution, through populism and opportunism.
