Ok, i tried to install on an already partitioned system .. i ended up with cli ... and had to run setup from cli myself ..
i picked up on the tip to run the following:
/usr/lib/yis/yis-cli/yis-cli.sh debug
now the installing went on .. i did everything i was asked and .. installed bootloader to mbr and i had to reboot ..
this worked .. this is a first for blacksand .. at least it is for me .. :) .. so good .. things do happen .. :)
next i discovered i didnt have internet ... connection on ..
so i did dhclient as root to get it up .. no problem .. its running ..
and i tried links .. to confirm this .. as i am still in cli mode .. it works :)
for some reason when i tried x xorg.conf is missing from /etc/X11
i ended up copying a xorg.conf from another root partition .. from another distrib to get it running
btw .. running xorgconfig as root didnt leave me with a xorg.conf so thats why i decided to copy/hack myself into x :)
after setting the right settings in xorg.conf with nano by myself i was able to startx as root user ...
as normal user i get errors ... i am assuming the rights of some files or dirs are not set right so as normal user i cant run x
as of yet ... i googled for it a bit .. and i found out i need to do some chmod u+s on some files .. by the way .. i didnt do this yet .. so i will
have to sort this out later .. maybe i am all wrong about this ...
after trying out xorg 6.8.2 i wanted to try to give xorg7.1 a go ...
i managed to install stuff from /devel/yoper-3.0 but xorg-drv-* ... is not found when running x .. while i installed nv kbd and mouse modules ..
so some things are still wrong there i am assuming .. they have alpha status btw .. not rocketfuel ... but ok .. but i am sure in time this will work ..
can give more feedback later tobias .. will try to make a more thorough test report when i have some more time later ... these are just my recollections from doing the installation .. of blacksand 2.92 .. cli installer .. is doing quite good .. imho .. already ... apart from the empty hard drive issue i suppose .. i didnt manage to test this myself yet .. though ... to confirm it ... i must say i miss the option to select a seperate partition for /boot .. but this is mainly interesting for use with grub i suppose ...
to summarize all this .. great iso tobias :) .. looking good .. getting better .. step by step .. looking forward to next one .. i will test it for sure ..
ok thats all for now ...
Regards,
Johnbon
