Bill/Edger/merely My understanding on the root cause of attachment is
‘I’ or ‘you’ or ‘we’ as formless spirit do not realize that I/You/we are not forms and we are only pure consciousness or pure empty space; we identified with what is in us or what we possess or what we have. The body is given to us, it is in us and we are not able to realize ourselves that we are not body and that we are only consciousness, this is what the root of attachment is. For example, there are many who watch Television serials or movies, and express out all kinds of emotions which the hero or heroine is expressing out. There is a full attachment to the movie or show, one cannot able to differentiate that I am only watcher of the movie / show and movie/show characters are not mine and hence no need to suffer as the characters does. Similarly in real life also same mistake is committed by most of the humans. This needs practice from the young age. Right from childhood, if it is instructed to them that what is their true self and what is their possession, then at certain point of time, the child may understand its own nature. If those who are hearing ‘hiss’ sound go into deep meditation and realize that I am this ‘hiss’ sound or rather I am this ‘soul’ or consciousness, then slowly the attachment to the body will go. A continuous establishment in that ‘hiss’ sound will vanish the ‘thinker’, then all movement of that body is directly by the god only. Try to hear J.Krishnamurti speech on record player, you will realize his speech is coming from very depth as if he is just a bamboo and all those voices are coming from god. This will happened to all enlightened teachers. Please remember all enlightened teachers are same as far as their mental state is concerned, since the thinker in them is already died, and who actually speaking and moving means it is god himself operates their body directly. So not fight over one’s past life like Buddha is good and the right teacher and Jesus is not or similarly do not compare any one’s life with any one and give rate card to the enlightened teachers. All teachings of all enlighten teachers are one and same even though at outer level it appears as difference. Bodhidharama is not different from Buddha. That is Bodhi dharama and Buddha had same Buddha nature. Similarly Ramana Maharishi or J.Krishnamurthi or Jesus or Mohammad. Without understanding the real essence of their teaching we like to hold our beloved teacher as great and rest all bad, like a school boy. Please be mature not to fight over who is right or wrong, but work on ‘who am I’.
