Well, for the stuff I've used it for, it pretty much works. That said,
I'm very slowly migrating on to Zenoss, and currently have moved 18
systems to it over about a year. So obviously you mileage WILL vary.
The Linux SNMP monitoring works great, though you do have to properly
set up net-snmp on the Linux servers.
WMI works great, and the Windows Native Poll Zenpack makes it so you
don't need Informant. If you've got the domain account set up right, it
just works against XPSP2 and Win2kSP2. I've seen reports of
modifications needed for Vista/Server2k8, but haven't tried any.
Command based monitoring seems simple, I've got a smbclient test of a
samba share that just hums along and fires off an e-mail if it can't
connect.
Event based commands also work fine, I can use winexe to our windows
hosts to restart a service or run a batch script (or whatever) just fine.
Zenpacks in general have been pretty painless to set up, though
community ones have varying docs. I've got HTTP Monitor, Windows Native
Poll, ApacheMonitor set up and working. I'm close to using the MySQL
Monitor.
Doesn't work:
Maitenence Windows only work in the most basic use case, that is, you
set to maitenence at one time, and set back to production at the end, in
the window setup. Original as a finish state just seems buggy. Also,
they don't work with the DST changes in the USA. You have to move the
start date forward to AFTER the most recent change, then they work at
the right time again.
Some bugs in Opera and IE, seems to work fine in Firefox only. Really,
should go for cross browser compatibility as many OSS users are using
browsers other than Firefox.

Hi:
zenoss is really young, and has many many bugs. but it works sometime at
somewhere. i spent months to find out when and where zenoss would work, to
prevent biting by the bugs.
i hope there is a list, to tell us what is not working, what is wrong, and
what is the workarround if there is one. the information is hidden in the
forum, sometimes you need to looking carefully to get it.
i would follow-up if someone start this list..
