Well, you haven't paid me anything, but I'll nonetheless give you 
some free support.

Radeon 9000 is totally unsupported in Red Hat Linux 8.0.  It is 
however supported in Red Hat Linux 9, which comes with XFree86 
4.3.0, which is the first release of XFree86 to support the 
Radeon 9000, including 3D acceleration.

That is also something unsupported by Red Hat.  Feel free to hack 
your system to death to accomplish that however if you like.
