Actually, 32-bit or 64-bit, regardless of machine specs, FrameMaker is a performance dog. It's horrible... and I say that as someone who loves the software itself... but its resource utilization is GawdAwful(tm).
Not just during rendering phases, but Frame polls all opened pods/dialogs with every keypress, so the more pods you have open whilst editing, the more paragraph and character styles that are defined for the document, the more fonts that are installed on the system, the slower it is to navigate a document with the keyboard. Even with an i9 cpu and 64GB RAM and no other foreground applications running in Win10, I cannot operate with all of the pods open that I typically would want to reference. I have to keep multiple streamlined workspaces defined tailored to specific tasks, as the interface becomes unusable if I try to have everything open. Compared to InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Frame feels at least an order of magnitude slower. It's like running under water. -Dan -----Original Message----- From: Framers <framers-bounces+dharding=illinois....@lists.frameusers.com> On Behalf Of Pulkit Nagpal Sent: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 12:28 AM To: An email list for people using Adobe FrameMaker software. <framers@lists.frameusers.com> Subject: Re: [Framers] Processing time FrameMaker 2017 was on 32 bit architecture and FrameMaker 2019 & FrameMaker 2020 is based on 64bit architecture which by default improves performance of Application . if you have 64 bit OS, I suggest you to upgrade to latest version or try out the latest version on t 30 days trial, Make sure you have backup of older version files Thanks Pulkit Nagpal -----Original Message----- From: Framers <framers-bounces+punagpal=adobe....@lists.frameusers.com> On Behalf Of Robert Lauriston Sent: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 2:53 AM To: An email list for people using Adobe FrameMaker software. <framers@lists.frameusers.com> Subject: Re: [Framers] Processing time Use the Task Manager's Performance tab to see what the bottleneck is.
